The Essex County Department of Finance is responsible for managing the county’s financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and maintaining transparency in financial reporting. Accounts and Controls

Within the Finance Department, the Accounts and Controls Division is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations. This division plays a key role in financial reporting, auditing, and internal controls to safeguard county funds and promote accountability. By implementing rigorous financial oversight and monitoring procedures, the Accounts and Controls team helps prevent fraud, reduce inefficiencies, and maintain the highest standards of financial integrity.

 

Treasury 

Within the Finance Department, the Treasury is responsible for cash management, revenue collection, and investment oversight to ensure that county funds are properly managed and allocated. This division handles property tax collections, revenue distribution, and financial transactions, ensuring that all payments and obligations are processed efficiently. The Treasury team also manages bond issuances and investment strategies to maximize financial resources while maintaining financial security and liquidity for Essex County operations.
