07 May ESSEX COUNTY DIVINCENZO CONFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CREATE A NEW COUNTY PARK ON THE SITE OF THE OLD HOSPITAL CENTER IN CEDAR GROVE
Published on May 7, 2015
Cedar Grove, NJ – Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced that creating a park on the site of the former Essex County Hospital Center in Cedar Grove remains a priority of his administration. The park development has been delayed because of lawsuits involving Essex County, Cedar Grove and K Hovnanian. While the County has a policy to not issue any comments on ongoing litigation, the County Executive said he believed making a statement at this point was important to confirm Essex County was still working toward creating a park.
“In 2008, we originally announced plans to redevelop the old Essex County Hospital Center into parkland and we remain committed to our open space initiative,” DiVincenzo said. “Unfortunately, lengthy, costly and ongoing legal proceedings have delayed the process,” he added.
“While several issues still need to be resolved, Essex County will continue to monitor the situation while the litigation is pending and work with the township and developer to reach a solution that will enable the County to create a beautiful park that the public can enjoy forever,” DiVincenzo pointed out.
