The Essex County Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is dedicated to ensuring integrity, accountability, and transparency in county government operations. As an independent oversight body, the OIG investigates allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct within Essex County agencies, departments, and programs. Our mission is to promote ethical governance, enforce compliance with laws and regulations, and protect public resources through thorough investigations, audits, and policy recommendations.

The Inspector General works to identify inefficiencies, prevent corruption, and enhance public confidence in government services by holding county employees, contractors, and agencies accountable to the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
