On Wednesday, May 3, Essex County will partner with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection to conduct an aerial larval control operation. Areas along the Passaic River in Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland, Millburn and Livingston will be treated with a granular BTI. This is a natural substance and is harmless to humans and animals. Residents will see a low flying helicopter from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting. The aerial spraying may continue to Thursday, May 4, depending on the weather. If you have any questions, call our mosquito control hotline at 973-239-3366 ext. 2480 or our Public Works Department at 973-226-8500 ext. 0.
