Office of Inspector General

The Office of the Inspector General has the responsibility to prevent and investigate all illegal, improper or unethical behavior involving the County. Essex was the first county in New Jersey to appoint an Inspector General in 2003 to “ensure the integrity and honesty of a non-political County government; ensure the absence of corruption of any kind; ensure the absence of even the appearance of impropriety; and restore confidence in County government and raise the morale of its employees.”
